Moral of the story my lap top sucks. My new desktop is beast. I am wondering if its a codec issue? I installed Xvid, and Divx, I am not a genius at this at all but I know something is very wrong.

Ur problem seems to be ur processor which I think u should please change it at the earliest. Maybe that is defective and it is not giving u the result. Have you tried convert to some other video codec in vegas? Have you tried convert with something else? Just to see if it's also incredible slow or if it's just vegas.
